About the show

Most conversations about selling a business happen before the sale: multiples, diligence, who's buying, who's walking away. The Exit starts after all of that is settled, with owners who have already closed the deal and walked out the door.

Host Mike McCann is a Senior Business Advisor at Gateway Business Advisors, where he spends his days on the inside of that process: valuing companies, preparing owners to sell, and walking deals from the first conversation to the closing table. On The Exit, he brings in people who have already been through it, to talk about what actually happened once the deal closed: what changed the next morning, what the money did and didn't fix, what they wish someone had told them a year before they sold. Nationally, nearly three out of four business owners say they want to transition out of their company within the next ten years, and fewer than half have a written plan for how. The Exit is the conversation most owners have too late, moved earlier and put on the record.

Mike McCann is a Senior Business Advisor at Gateway Business Advisors, where he helps business owners understand the value of what they've built and confidently navigate the process of selling their business.

A Jacksonville Beach native, he earned his B.A. and MBA from Charleston Southern University on a full football scholarship, served as team captain, and helped lead the school's first conference championship team, later publishing BelieveEG21, chronicling that season.

Before joining Gateway Business Advisors, Mike founded and operated JaxCo Furniture for eight years, building the business while donating more than 300 beds to local families and veterans. He and his wife, Hannah, are raising their three children in Jacksonville Beach. As a former business owner himself, he brings firsthand experience to the exits he now helps other owners plan.
